I just checked 3 different sites for the mid-week forecast (we are supposed to get more snow). I came away with the knowledge we'd be getting somewhere between 1 and 7". Kind of a wide spread.

I usually check weather.com, weather underground and accuweather. They sometime come close but it's been rare that they've agreed. And sometimes the differences have been substantial.

So my new routine is to prepare for the harshest forecast, while I hope for the mildest.

Awesome website and app with hyperlocal forecasting. Great user interface, with precipitation radar. Precipitation alerts almost accurate to the minute.

work just fine for me. I rarely need to know more than temps, wind, and how much snow or rain we'll have tomorrow.

I do have Weather Underground, Accu-Weather, and an oddball thing just called "Weather" on my Android tablet, and they are all pretty much PITA to actually use for anything. Lots of menus and clicking to deal with.

Best of all is simply cable newschannel 12 which updates the weather at least every 15 minutes. Since the weather here is affected by the ocean, New England, and whatever is happening west of here, it tends the most accurate since it takes very local conditions and microweather into account.

When we were waiting to see where Michael was going to hit, I was staying on the site monitoring the winds. Amazing how accurate their maps were with what was happening on the ground in the midlands of SC.

the apps that are constantly updating the weather. I believe they are battery hogs.
