Confess your culinary sins.
I love Kraft macaroni and cheese. I use the recommended amount of milk and butter but only use half or maybe two thirds of the macaroni. I eat it with a spoon and it makes me happy. I only do this when I’m alone.

11. I am almost 66.
I have always preferred instant coffee.
I don't like perked, drip, or brewed. Boiling water is the trick to making good instant coffee. I prefer mine black and extremely hot. My family jokes that I can drink it when it is boiling. I reheat my mug of black coffee 4 or 5 times before it is empty. |

58. Of course you boil the water.
No matter how you fix the coffee the water needs to boil.
I have one cup a day. I do put in sugar and half and half, and I also reheat it several times before I'm done drinking the one cup. |

109. Thanks for the suggestion.
I have a large thick plastic mug that I drink out of.
It is 20 years old. I would not be able to drink my coffee as hot as I like, it if I used a glass mug. The glass gets too hot and it burns my lips. My plastic mug does not get hot on the outside. The mug warmer would not work with my plastic mug. |

59. Quadruplets, at least.
For reasons that aren't very important, I went for about five years without using ketchup on anything. Then, when I put it on a hamburger I was shocked at how sweet it was. I think ketchup in recent years acquired a whole lot more sugar, and I almost never use it any more. Rarely on a hamburger, but I always notice how incredibly sweet it is.
I dip my fries in extra salt. I especially like making my own, from real potatoes. That's my secret vice. |

Too sweet and it smells gross. You know when you can smell it in a ballpark/outdoor trashcan in the heat of summer? Gag. Ruined it for me, forever.

8. That's my original sin ;)
My father taught me. Actually it wasn't from a box, but maybe worse -- we made the sauce with milk, butter, and Velveeta.
Yeah, I know, not real cheese, but oh so many emulsifiers for that rich, creamy mouth feel ![]() Since then I've evolved to use Annie's whole wheat white cheddar and I use olive oil instead of butter. Mildly less sinful.... 😇 |

60. Right. While I like a steak done medium,
I have no patience with those who haughtily claim that a well done steak will be tough and inedible. Hah! If it's a decent quality of steak in the first place, it will simply be well done. And if it comes out tough and inedible then it was a crappy piece of meat to begin with.

You CAN get a good well-done steak if prepared correctly. The only thing I have in common with Dolt 45. Actually I can tolerate a tiny bit of pink in a steak, but any pink in a burger and my stomach turns. Goes right into the wastebasket or back to the kitchen.

61. Rice a Roni rice pilaf.
It's my go-to side dish for my Grecian chicken (marinate boneless cut up chicken breasts in [and you absolutely must do it in this order] oregano, chopped garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil) which is then grilled. I use a table top electric grill and get excellent results. The other side dish is stir fried veggies: carrot (sliced thin on the diagonal), green or red pepper, onion, zucchini, and snow peas. I cut up and refrigerate the veggies and stir fry one serving at a time.
I also do boneless pork chop teriyaki with those two side dishes. What's really great is that the meats freeze wonderfully after they've been cooked, and when I want another meal I just take out one portion and heat it up in the microwave. I live alone, so figuring out single portions and how to save or freeze leftovers is huge in my culinary life. |

I saute up some italian sausage, peppers (hopefully I have Bell, Poblano, and Jalapeno all on hand for the soiree), and sweet yellow onion ... then pop the melange in at the end, after the powdered cheese dissolves.
Then I spray it with Siracha and some cracked pepper. It's pretty dang bomb, if I say so myself ... cause I DID invent it ... lol ... Can't think of much I do very unorthodox when it comes to what I make or eat ... maybe ... I like dipping my onion rings in barbeque sauce? |

Microwavable instant white rice in a big ass bowl. Zap it good.
Get your shredded yellow cheese ready to throw in there so it melts on the hot rice. Stir it up. Dump a can of corn in there. Stir again. Now here comes the tricky part... Soy sauce or liquid aminos to taste. About half a large bottle of Tabasco. Stir, stir, stir... Time to enjoy! You can also add tempeh bacon or bacon bits or something along those lines. and I don't know why. It's been our favorite since before we heard of mac and cheese - we started getting that because we could only sporadically find the potato one.
On a side note, in order to make me feel like I'm "cooking" I doctor the the hamburger before adding the helper - during browning I always hit it with salt and pepper and crushed garlic and a splash or three of Worcestershire sauce. Happy hunting! Lately I heard that potato stroganoff is in good supply at Walmart - which is one reason I don't see it as much because I hate going to Walmart lol. Will have to make an exception to see. |

This was a popular kid's snack prepared by everyone's mom or granny in the small Spanish village we lived in back in the day, but the cheese was probably fresh goat cheese. Sometimes there would be homemade pepperoni slices to go with the fried bread, but usually there was a small, very tart apple. is a fondness for certain Stouffer's frozen entrees. I live alone, so cooking for one can be tedious, and sometimes one of those is just exactly what I need.
However, since most of the time I cook from scratch, I do sort of notice that they aren't as fresh tasting as I wish they were. Sigh. My other culinary sin is a fondness for Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pepperoni Pizza. I also love red wine, but that's not a sin, is it? |

Grouper fillet, chicken breast or scallops are the ultimate. * fresh from the field turnip greens cooked with country bacon drippings. Douse with apple cider vinegar at the table. * cut white corn straight from the field, simmered in country bacon drippings in a cast iron skillet. Serve with country ham, bacon or sausage and biscuits for breakfast. * boiled peanuts. Georgia and Carolina varieties are great, but boiled Virginia peanuts are the ultimate. * fresh fried catfish with hushpuppies. * Cajun Gumbo, preferably in Louisiana. * grilled grouper sandwich on dark rye bread, open face. Alternate cocktail sauce and tarter sauces. (disclaimer: haven't had several of those items in many years and probably never will again) The home-made mac and cheese belongs to my wife, prepared with Velveeta......... ![]() |

100. Yeah, but that's sooo good.
You can substitute Greek yogurt for the sour cream and you'll get more protein, fewer calories and somehow it manages to taste almost exactly the same. (Just in case you want to feel virtuous the next time you eat it.

Not just like Top Ramen (boring!). There's SO MANY flavors at a good Asian market it'll blow your mind. The Samyang Cheesey Chicken (Korean) is pretty bomb, for one. Mama Brand (Thai) Creamy Shrimp, or Green Curry Flavor, are also great. Anyways, I just toss fresh veggies in the boiling water for a few mins ... broccoli, snow or snap peas, onion chunks ... then toss in the noodles and some cooked meat from fridge (or frozen cooked shrimp) at that time ... then 3-7 mins later depending on noodles, you got a fine meal. Top with some scallions and cilantro. Throwing in some cooked scramble egg at the end ain't bad either ...

138. I make something called "Chicken Divan"
It's not really something that I would usually make since I make most things from unprocessed ingredients, but it's really good. It's boneless chicken, broccoli and a sauce of Campbell's cream of chicken soup mixed w/ mayonnaise, sherry, lemon juice, a tiny bit of curry, salt, pepper and some grated cheese (cheddar or your choice), put in a casserole pan and bake. Some people put buttered bread crumbs on top.
It sounds kind of questionable, but it's really good, especially the 2nd or 3rd day. |

165. I totally cheat making mac & cheese !!
Instead of a roux in my homemade mac & cheese, I cheat and use a little bit of store bought alfredo sauce instead. I also add a little bit, just a squirt, of dijon mustard in there after I've added in my cheese blend (cheddar/asiago/parmesan). Making a pot of homemade mac & cheese is now easier than ever. The alfredo sauce is relatively a neutral flavour when a little milk and butter are added in.

You should try French onion dip in ham sandwiches on Jewish Rye bread. Really good!
French onion dip on Fries is delicious too. I sprinkle soy sauce on leftover spaghetti sometimes. Not on the first go-round, but when it's leftover and gotten a little dry in the fridge on day two. When the nacho cheese gets lower in the jar than a chip can reach, I crush a couple of fist fulls of chips, put them in the jar and eat it out with a spoon. It's all very civilized. ![]() |
