Anyone here seen "Battleship?"

Or plan to see it?

I'm really leery of this movie, due to three things:

It's based (really loosely based) on a board game.

It's being promoted up the yin-yang, ads, videogames, etc.

Outside of the big battles, it looks boring.

One, a relative of mine worked on this movie. Two, Taylor Kitsch is worth paying the money even if the movie is meh. Big Tim Riggins forever!

but I'd like to. I think it's gonna be good like the first Transformers was. Then again, I like popcorn action movies. I don't always see them in the theater, sometimes I wait for the dvd.

Partly because it's big and explodey
but mostly because my wife seldom passes up a chance to watch Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) work.

I'm really more psyched for Prometheus. And probably Men In Black.

the theater we like has big leather chairs (probably pleather but that feel) and serves Yuengling on tap and has giant nachos that feed two people.

That plus big and explodey make for a fun night out even if the movie is silly. Big and explodey needs a bigger screen and better speakers than I have at home.

<--see? don't y'all wish that was on a bigger screen now?

I kinda want to see Avengers kick Avatar off the top blockbuster spot.

I like Taylor Kitsch's John Carter. I just think it was badly... very badly marketed.
Battleship, just looked dumb. Michael Bay dumb... So no, no plans unless it hits Netflix.

but that most people, including most critics, are unfamiliar with the conventions of the genre.

this past weekend - seems like the same concept - battleship is the last hope against an alien invasion. When I saw it was on, I DVR'd it and saved myself the $10 for battleship on the big screen.
