So, I came across a seller on ebay who has remarkably solid feedback (98.5%) positive who's selling what appears to be very good quality shirts shockingly cheap.
I'm skeptical. I mean, in the end, it's not like I'm spending THAT much, but, you know, even $17 is $17.

That shirt is only $14. Good deal, right? I mean, seriously good deal. I read through the negative ratings (there aren't many) and the common complaint is that the fabric is cheap, so, the shirt doesn't look nearly as good as in the photos.
But I don't know. Every positive review talks about how nice the shirts are. So, do you think it's legit? Or is it like those knock-off shoes that kinda, sorta look like the real thing, but are cheap and fall apart quickly?

(34,857 posts)I thought about giving it a go. The price is cheap. So, I'd only be out like $15 and that ain't nothin but a large pizza one night.

(68,918 posts)I always discount the negative reviews on things like hotels, and restaurants, if the majority of reviews are favorable. Some people are not happy unless they are staying at the Ritz, eating the finest filet, and wearing Chanel...all for $10 or less.
Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)The negative reviews are a mix of the fabric feeling cheap and the sizes not being right. That's about it. I'll sleep on it, I guess, and see whether I like it tomorrow.

(16,688 posts)My husband looks better in slim fit shirts and they can be hard to find. I think this shirt would look good on him.
Will you keep us posted?

(10,337 posts)Try one. If you like it, buy more and as far as the bad reviews, hell man you are dealing with the public. If you cured Cancer somebody would bitch about it.

(34,857 posts)I know a lot of review websites have an abnormally high amount of positive reviews for shitty products that never work because they stack the reviews. But ebay has to have a thing in place that doesn't allow that, right?

(20,564 posts)most people don't buy except from those w. 100% pos. feedback, and while i may have bought from somebody who had 99.7% percent pos. feedback it was someone i knew
ebay is the opposite of what you think and that's why you ended up w. a shitty shirt for $14
no offense intended but i can tell from your questions that you are clue free on the topic of ebay
you never buy from someone w. less than 99% feedback and sometimes they have to have 100% --READ the feedbacks not just the numbers
any neutral comments or any comments that seem less than enthusiastic are people's way of getting around ebay's severe restrictions/punishments for leaving negs and it means they were VERY upset, highly motivated to risk saying that much
truly neutrals wouldn't comment at all

(20,375 posts)Why, when you buy a shirt like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh? It'll look good on you though.
Just kidding D I. They look good, and for the money it's worth a shot.

(21,020 posts)I noticed that you can return it within 7 days of receipt if you don't like it.
Or if you don't want to bother, just donate it to a homeless shelter or something.
I've bought lots of clothing on eBay, and only rarely have been disappointed.
Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)It's a good price. Nothing extreme. I've paid for a lot more for clothes I don't wear.
So, we'll see!
Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)It seems decent enough. Maybe not as sharp as it looked in the photo, but that happens even with high-end items. So, I'm leaning toward saying I was satisfied, though obviously I'd like to see how it holds up over the next few months (after washing and what not).

(16,688 posts)How did the sizing compare?
Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)A bit tight in the middle region, but that's to be expected since it's a slim-fit. However, it's hit & miss it seems, as some people have chimed in and said their sizes were way off (too small). But I also normally wear a medium and I got a large, which might have offset the problems?

(20,564 posts)so, no, i would not buy from a vendor w. a rating this low
you can't get a $14 shirt locally that you can try on? it ain't exactly hard
Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)As for your last, kind of snide comment, this had nothing to do with things being hard. If I felt I could buy a decent and nice button-up shirt for $14 locally, I would have done that. But that's unlikely. I liked the shirt, I felt the price was worth the gamble in hopes that the shirt would be what was advertised and I'm fairly satisfied with the purchase. Certainly I couldn't get anything similar for $14 locally - maybe $24 on discount, but even then, that's not the price range I was looking for at the time.
