J/K

I've lived in Arizona for 11+ years...from Chicago. Most of my friends are Rs including my closest friends. One on one, they can be reasonable and compassionate. It's when you put them in groups they become soulless morons.

Thank Jebus.

If she is, I have to assume she's a moderate. She's too smart and kind to be a wingnut.

Given, my mother is what we used to call a liberal Republican (Like Lowell Weicker) and my stepfather is a very-conservative Labor and Catholic-Doctrine Democrat. (Like Bob Casey)

Ironically, they couldn't be further apart if one of them was a hippie and the other a Moral Majoritarian.

(such as myself), you do so at your own risk: many of us have a great deal of experience giving advice on the internet, to people whom we have never met and about whom we actually know nothing at all; in fact, we have been giving such advice for years and years, to thousands of people whose lives would no doubt have improved considerably, if only they had listened to our advice

To me, if you can't respect someone's beliefs, then you can't respect that person, and what's the point of a relationship like that (beyond somewhat superficial friendship)?

My sister, a liberal atheist, has been happily married for nearly 31 years to her husband, a conservative Christian fundamentalist.

Best wishes to you.

Probably just a typical mid-west conservative. At least that's my best guess.

We haven't really talked about anything political yet, there's too much other good stuff to talk about.
