(18,372 posts)I would expect them to act that way. They usually hang around unless they need to protect the sheep. The border collie keeps circling waiting for a job to do.

(103,809 posts)looks like a possible mix with some GS but to even close to GP that I've ever seen.

(30,275 posts)Another livestock guardian dog. If a coyote showed up, he'd be right on it. Leave herding to the collies.

(10,540 posts)Half Great Pyrenees and Half Anatolian shepherd. I have one just like the one in the video. Wonderful, smart, and stubborn! Mine barks at the perimeter of our big yard about every 15-20 minutes to tell the wolves/coyotes to keep away!
As you said, they do not herd but are high energy protectors.

(18,372 posts)The dog had the laid back air of a guardian dog. My family is into herders, but these are wonderful dogs as well. As you said great to have around in coyote country.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
