It is said that 46% of americans believe in the paranormal or ghosts and trying not to sound like a complete idiot I bring this to this site hoping for some answers.
About a year ago in the neighborhood I live in a woman killed herself and her family. Now the house has stood vacant for about a year and the only signs of life is the section of the house that is a rental property. Those people have lived there this whole time. Nice couple.
Anyways someone bought the house and fixed it up and rented it to a nice couple.
Now I was talking to the woman I knew the one in the rental property and the person now renting the home where the killing happen.
The new woman said that one night she saw an outline of a face. So the lady who rented and lives beside the house asked the new neighbor to describe the face. I honestly think the woman was trying to ease the new neighbor's mind that her house isn't haunted.
The new neighbor described the face she thought might have been the child who died. She described the child's grandmother. Both of us told the new neighbor it was the grandmother and feel have been uneasy since.
any suggestions or thoughts on the whole situation?

(38,613 posts)It's hard to say much about the authenticity of this situation, since it relies on second-hand info from the neighbor. But I wouldn't have told her she had ghosts in her house

(28,394 posts)I don't have any anecdotes about seeing one, but I think those spirits or energies (or whatever they are) are all around us. It comforts me to believe that....

(16,862 posts)I don't know. I work in an allegedly haunted hotel. I've had one (very minor) experience, but I don't know if I do or do not believe.

(23,478 posts)talk with others who have died. Yes, it could be loss of oxygen to the brain and confusion. But, I believe peoples loved ones who are dead
sometimes help people who are in their final days die peacefully.

(13,421 posts)I was stone sober, drug free, and making buckwheat pancakes for my family in a vacation rental. I was standing there in my sleep t-shirt with a spatula in my hand and he came walking through a wall. He was wearing a red plaid shirt, denims, and a hunting cap and I watched him come out of the freaking wall! He looked at me when I let out a scream then looked down and away like he was embarrassed. He kept on walking and then walked out through the other wall.
Found out later that the house has a local reputation for being haunted and that same figure has been seen on the property by more than just me...

(3,220 posts)I also believe that 99% of ghost sightings are either easily debunked right on the spot, a person being mistaken (sleep paralysis and dreaming are commonly confused with the paranormal - that's why a lot of supposed ghost sightings are at night in peoples' rooms), or just a story.

(8,556 posts)But I'm not at all surprised at the 46 percent figure. I'll bet that a similar percentage of people I've known believe in them. I find the whole thing preposterous. But people have fun with it, so I'm not going to hate.
As a college student I worked as a pizza delivery driver during the summers. One night one of our employees who was off that night stopped by the store with a friend. I asked what they were doing and he said 'ghost hunting.' Apparently they were driving around graveyards and hoping to catch glimpse of a ghost.
I've known quite a few people who have claimed to see ghosts and/or other types of paranormal activity.
Not my thing, but if people want to do it, more power to them. I don't think they are hurting anybody.

(15,758 posts)I've lived in several houses that had ghosts, including the one I live in now. The one thing I have learned is "ghosts =/= "scary"...only in how we react to them.
