Looking for roommate/housing situation.

This is me attempting to network and hoping that I am not breaking any DU rules.

(If so, I will cheerfully accept corrective actions.)

It is my hope to find a housing situation in the Greater Baltimore Area. Something a bit farther afield might be acceptable if I can get to public transportation with relative ease.

Here are my basic demographic details:

61 years old, female, straight but not narrow.

I do not smoke, drink, or use drugs. (Unless you count chocolate, then I am Hard. Core.)

If this post is not in violation of any DU policy, then I would love to hear back if you are the friend of a friend who has some space to rent or is moving to the area and might wish to share an apartment.

My primary philosophy regarding the challenge of sharing a domicile and housing expenses is the need for respect and communication.

We are all different with our notions of privacy and cleanliness and finances. It's important to see the other person's point of view and create an atmosphere where all folks involved are reasonably happy. The last thing that I want is a situation where I am happy and other people are not.

Win/win is what I am looking for.

Thanks, everyone.

4. You might try google. Plug in Finding roommate in Baltimore Md area.

Although it's always better to do this with someone you already know or a referral from someone you know. But if that's not an option there are services available .

6. the AAPR Bulletin of March 2019 has an (fluffy)article on. Senior Roommates/Housemates

For the record, I think that group has many deficits.
Consider checking their website for some more useful info.
Does your city/county have Sr Options/Services?
A faith based group you can be comfortable with might have info.

There are 2 groups I heard on an NPR talkshow last fall, I do not know either one, but here goes.... 1-Senior Homeshares
2-SilverNest.

Hope something here helps.

8. Thank you.

Filled out a "Silvernest" profile and I was feeling good because the questions seem thorough if not nuanced enough. I chose, "no" for having marijuana in the house only because it is currently illegal, not because I have any moral objections to other people's use of it.

Unfortunately, the rents displayed in the area I am seeking were high for my budget. (Did I just miss a possible pun, there?) I was hoping someone who owned a house would like having a roommate/tenant who could provide a few extra hundred bucks and help out around the place. The $1000 range in rents suggests that someone wants to split the mortgage, which I can't afford. Or, maybe they're are just going by the market rate in their areas.

I do know that I could share a two-bedroom apartment in a few safe-but-not-toney neighborhoods for a lot less.

The one homeowner profile that matched my budget described herself as a 'God-loving, Christian woman", and she may be very kind and respectful. But with the Evangelical support for Whats-his-face running rampant in this country. I am not about to take that chance.

9. Are you still looking for a roommate in Baltimore?

Hi Collimator:

I don't think DU rules will allow me to privately email you yet; but will keep trying.

Thanks to the DUers who helped me.
