How to keep animals out of your garbage...

I found a good trick for keeping the local raccoons and crows from tearing apart my garbage, to get at any food I've thrown out.

Used cat litter.

The animals tear up my neighbor's bags, but leave mine alone.

(I have two cats, he has a dog.)

If I ever open my trash can and find that, my response will be to walk away and never come back.

Any animal who wants to use the trash to do some investigating or identity stuff will probably be frustrated by little bits of paper.

Raccoons? I think there's no good way of keeping them out of the garbage. Too much good stuff in there!

Old chicken bones? Mmmmmm.

It works for me. I have possums in my area, but they have not gotten into my garbage cans yet. I even had rats, which my local pest control guy eliminated, but they never got into my garbage can because they could not lift the top since it was so tight fitting.

in a garden store once - it said it repelled raccoons and such.

The guy who collects that stuff has one hell of a lousy job.
