And I was into a short Lucy phase on the internet, & must have posted that in a moment of sanity. Now I don't know if people recall "I Love Lucy" from the early 50s, but I remember watching that show on an 8 inch B & W TV that we had. And watching Lucy, yes the original shows, first time around, was a great family treat. Also, we didn't know she was the brains of the outfit, as history shows her to be..

Lucy and Ethel in the Chocolate Factory Please watch this. You will laugh too. (entire film clip: 2 min and 2 sec)

2) October Surprise: -- Reagan campaign chairman William Casey & other members of Reagan's "Kitchen Cabinet" met in secret in Paris with Iranian leaders to ask them to NOT release the hostages until Reagan became POTUS (The Iranians were about to release the hostages)

and copied them, then gave them to William Casey, who gave them to George Will to use in coaching Reagan before the 2nd debate with Carter,

Casey, Donald Gregg and George Will should have been prosecuted for conspiracy to steal top secret presidential papers.....possibly an act of sabotage.

Reagan lost the 1st debate badly, because he couldn't think on his feet, and needed a teleprompter in front of him at all times.
The only way he "won" that 2nd debate was via subterfuge.

That whole Reagan campaign team who participated in both Debate-Gate and October Surprise should have been charged with treason, especially William Casey, who orchestrated both illegal operations, and Donald Gregg, who stole top secret papers from Jimmy Carter's desk.

I don't know why there weren't Congressional investigations into both of those illegal operations.

212. William Henry Seward
Mon Aug 19, 2019, 06:50 PM
Aug 2019

The quote comes from Seward's closing arguments while defending William Freeman for murder. Freeman was a black man who had stabbed a family shortly after release from prison. Freeman was mentally ill and abused terribly while in prison. Seward was a supporter of prison reform and better treatment for the mentally ill. Both Seward and his wife were abolitionists and their home was a stop on the underground railroad.

Anyway, Seward sought to prevent Freeman's execution because there was more tha sufficient evidence that he was "insane" Of the nine doctors that evaluated Freeman, all but one agreed. In the trial Seward spoke of the terrible and harsh prison conditions and racial inequality. It was one of earliest instances of the insanity defense taken seriously.

The jury found Freeman guilty but the decision was reversed upon appeal. Officials came to acknowledge Freeman's mental illness and there was no retrial.

Seward was treated horribly during that trial and was a virtual pariah in his own town. This was after he served as governor of New York.

The trial raised his national profile and garnered the attention of abolitionists and other leaders who supported his run for the senate. Soon after he would join the newly created Republican party and challenge Lincoln for the nomination.
