(15,359 posts)wrong side. I told her the hoses reach that far anyway. She couldn't believe she never realized that, or noticed anyone filling the opposite side.

It wasnt any problem at all landing with plenty of runway left with a Vref of 135. Boeing used to do certification testing on that runway. Not sure if they still do. RTO was much scarier. Almost no runway left.

(131,221 posts)I had jumpseat privileges and was up front on a number of flights into MDW in DC-9s. Watching the blast fence coming at you at the end of a short runway is pretty exciting, and that old tub's brakes weren't as efficient as on some newer airplanes. You have to get on the reversers right away.

(36,927 posts)Assuming a dry runway and all other things being equal most jets are going to require more runway to meet accelerated stop requirements than for landing. Passengers get more nervous about landings at MDW, but they don't get to see the end of the runway coming at them at a high rate of speed. That being said MDW is a cake walk compared to ASE.

(131,221 posts)ASE doesn't handle Part 121 aircraft bigger than CRJs, also for that reason.

(36,927 posts)None of the Challengers can make it, so we cant depart IMC. Most operators wont go in there with anything near minimums either. The Falcons are much better suited for the airport.

(1,288 posts)I only learned about this recently. Could have save me much hassle over the years. I'm not in the car so may not have it exactly right, but it's a triangle next to the fuel indicator, I think, pointing side to fill up.
