I run an old vintage store and I got talking to a customer, he was my age, you know a 60ish guy, and we were riffing on the music I was playing, it was Traffic. I had the CD Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys on. And shit howdy he was flirting with me. Such fun! Kinda put a kick in my step.

(5,106 posts)I guess few of us would be up in arms over a guy being "flirty," and usually be a bit flattered. Certainly, "back in the day," there were guys (BTW,my mom thought "guy was a vulgar term,: she always said "fellow" and nearly stroked out when my generation used "you guys" to include girls) who got "inappropriate," and we just "handled" them or turned to our boyfriends/husbands if we had one nearby. I realize today, that maybe we shouldn't have been put into the situation by a guy making a "pass," but, as tends to happen in today's society, reactions have gotten WAAAY out of hand. We aren't talking crazed rapists but men who may just get "inappropriate." My then husband once asked me why I wouldn't dance with the male friend in a couple with whom we frequently socialized. I honestly answered that he was always "copping feels." I also knew that my ex was reasonable about such things unlike some jealous significant others. I have a forty year old daughter who agrees with me regarding the overboard offense many women take take when being "hit on" by a a male.

(1,288 posts)on those very rare occasions. And Low Spark... oh my! For me, summer of maybe 67 or 68? My sister and I, on our back, looking up at all the stars, while the crescendo builds.
I have been letting my gray grow out and feeling more and more invisible to so many. Then I watch all the other women, more gray than I, travel grocery store aisles and coffee shops. Does every one of them feel diminished in the eyes of those in the "prime"?

(3,191 posts)I have been hard core single for 12 years, raising my child, with NO interest in any relationship, spare the one with my kiddo. I still got "the thing" I know it, good looking for an old bird, I must have been putting out a flirty vibe. Hi

(66,367 posts)I once had a very attractive woman flirt with me, and I'm convinced it was because of what I was wearing. It's not like I'm a prize. I've had more than one person say I look like Jon Favreau. So a nice little flirt was a real ego boost.
