Ugh! A (literally) crazy day in clinic! Hold me...

A guy with some kind of un-diagnosed or treated delusional mental illness barricaded himself in the shower, ranting and raving the whole time, and wouldn't come out. My MA Supervisor tried for an hour to get him out so our other patients could take a shower, but he kept refusing. We finally called the cops, and they got him out of there. I hope they'll order an evaluation and get him on some treatment.

Had another guy offer an Oscar-worthy performance in an attempt to shake me down for opioid meds for his sciatica. I prescribed the appropriate treatment, gave him a shot of Toradol for the acute pain, and referred him to ortho. He kept hanging around the waiting room (refusing the whole time to go to the pharmacy to fill his prescriptions) talking about how much pain he's in.

This must be Tueday. I never could get the hang of Tuesdays...

She goes outside and eats grass. Comes inside and throws up.

I hope you have some big burly security dudes at your clinic! Goodness ....

At this one, we don't. We keep begging the clinic manager to convince admin to spring for some security. So far, nothing. I guess admin doesn't want to do anything that might cut in to their salary and bonuses. We're supposed to be a non-profit, but I guess they define the term loosely enough that senior management gets a big payday.

and was licking a poll, then throwing up. Figured out round-up was probably the culprit. Are there any fertilizers in your grass?

Can't stop munching grass, and she throws up ever single time. I just try to catch her in the act and stop it.

She wouldn't be budged off her assertion. I treated her and discharged her. But I told the staff not to put her on the schedule in the future for pulmonary complaints. If she ain't gonna listen to me, there's no need for her to be here.
