She chose her favorite child of the three kittens, taught that kitten how to climb and how to chase moving things (teaching her to hunt, I think). If I left her alone in the cat room with all 3 children (protecting them from our dogs) she would yell at me when I came home from work. (In cat language, I think it was “You left me alone all day with these kids.”). As beautifully natural she was as a mommy, once the kittens were weaned, she wanted them out of her face. And I mean OUT. Tough love is right.

that she tried to steal them from other mother cats (she lived in a cat rescue). When her own kittens were weaned, other kittens - big ones, 4 or 5 months old - followed her around and would nurse on her whenever she lay down, and she'd let them.

I’ve read here many times, and elsewhere, that ginger cats are predominantly male. Not sure about ginger and white.
