game of thrones rant w/ spoiler

that's it? all the great warriors. witches, pirates, and sinister politicians are dead? the guy who was resurrected from the dead save the world is exiled back to guarding a freaking wall against a zombie army that was totally destroyed weeks ago?

but just a word about the new king ..... his brand new grace has done nothing since episode one except get pushed out of a window. maybe he gets driven around in a wheel barrow and has a few surreal nightmares. great. is the moral of the story "don't kill thouands of innocent people?" i knew that before this show started.

1. Did the story need a moral?

Or did the viewers?

Maybe the show had a moral of the story that people rejected because it didn't end like they wanted it to end?

Maybe Bran is precisely what the show's writers made the point of fully explaining to the audience through two different characters, Tyrion and Samwell? In the event that all the other evidence of Bran's knowing the past and being the living memory of all things didn't register with the audience before Season 8. People saw his story as a byline in favor of their favorite characters - Oops.

Memory. The past not forgotten. Learning the lessons of the past going forward into the future. How we see the world through our own stories, too often lacking the experiences and stories of everyone else - but what actions would we have made differently had we known those experiences? What heartache could have been avoided? What good could have come sooner?

Of course murdering civilians is wrong. No one needs anyone to tell them that. Except - in the show and in the story - someone (several someones) did need to be told.

Maybe His Grace represents both the good and the bad of the past, the reminder of human error and bias, as well as the triumphs.

Maybe that's enough.

Maybe that's not enough.

Maybe some viewers simply didn't like the story.

You saw the small council of King Bran? You heard them squabble? The more things change and all that. Of course it's not a case of "that's it". All the "great warriors. witches, pirates, and sinister politicians are dead" are not dead - because the future is not dead.

People are still people. That same motives still drive them. Good and bad still exist.

But maybe, just maybe, by remembering...they will do better now.

We don't get to see how that plays out is all.

Alas, no season 9.

I'll pass on being the Hand though. You can find me in the North. House Mormont is in need of another feisty woman.

Tywin's lecture to Tommen. Also since he can't have children, the concept of dynastic rule may end. Jon would be a bad king. He always lived in the moment. In essence he serves now as an Ambassador to the Wildlings. The difficulties with them still exist

Really? Could anyone have made more bad calls than Tyrion?

That made no sense to me.

and he has experience even though he HAS made a lot of mistakes. However this time he will be Hand to someone hopefully reasonable, how he deals with Bronn is another thing entirely!
