unfortunately I remember when I was a kid and my dad was a womanizing, child abusing pedophile....but back to our original post....

I wish my dad had run around in tights and a cape....that would be a great memory.

And stayed that way until he retired.

Then it was jeans and a button-down. It was a bit shocking to see him in jeans the first time.

He might have been happier with a little whimsy in his dress.

Less barbed stick up the butt and more approachable.

owned a pair of jeans. I can’t imagine them wearing jeans in my wildest dreams. And as a child of the 60s and 70s, that’s all I wore! Bell bottom jeans!

My dad was a very smart man but he was also very racist, if you can imagine those two qualities rolled into one person.

Even then I had to beg to get a pair. She continued to buy me dresses each fall for school.

It was so unlike my father to be in jeans that we still talk about that first time.

My mother wore jeans as a car-hop in her teens then not again until later in life.

She was dresses and pearls for the longest then dress slacks. Her turn seemed gradual. My father's, not so much.

until my sophomore year in high school. Ugh. All other times it was jeans. I changed out of my hated dresses and skirts the minute I came home from school. And this was the early 70s.

My dad once wore a suit to a baseball game. I was about 12 and even then I thought it strange, but, then, adults always did strange things in my mind.

critical, shaming narcissist who had no use for me. Died when I was 16, which now as an adult, remains a double-edged sword.

She did things that made you think it had to be magic. Knew things that you were sure she wouldn't know about. I miss her.

And toy catapults. And him taking me to the school playground when nobody was around to let me ride his moped (which I thought was a motorcycle.)

My other dad would be a good Q from James Bond. I could see my brother as a good secret superhero or secret agent.
