Can't post photos on DU

Am I missing something? I can post text, I just don't have any buttons or functions that allow me to post/upload a pic.

1. The pic has to be hosted somewhere else

Then you just post the URL for the pic and it will appear in the post.

But basically you have to upload your own pics to a hosting site and then copy the url into your post.

If trying to embed an image that you've found on the internet, just copy/paste the URL for THE image to your post.

4. Go to Photobucket.com

create an account and then upload your photos from your computer desktop or wherever you keep them. You can create different files for different types of images. Say you want a file that only has gifs or one that only has family photos, or one that's just for political stuff or miscellaneous pictures.

Once they have the photos uploaded you can put your curser on the photo or gif you want and click on the Direct Link that shows up under it. The link will change from http://www..... to the word 'copy'. Then come here and paste into your op. You'll see the URL of the image but when you click on 'Post my reply' the image will show up for everyone to see.

What if you see the image in preview but only the URL when you see what's posted? I'm hosting on photobucket and get options for direct link, HTML and IMG. Tried each and got the same result.

Maybe if you contact Photobucket help they can help you. It's always worked for me.

You should be able to post a photograph or a gif anytime.
