(10,417 posts)Morgan is a very friendly pretty girl.
Blacky used to sit in front of my monitor, and lay on piles of paper. I read someone's post about putting a shoebox at the side of their desk and was really embarrassed that I didn't figure that out for myself. So I put a box in front of me and that solved the problem of "cat in the way". Until my monitor quit, and I got one of the ultra-wide-screen replacements which didn't leave room for his box. I moved his box to the side, and he still wanted to sit in front of me. I still sometimes have to shoo him over to his box's new spot.

(22,468 posts)Brought us a fawn they'd found. I'd bottle fed maybe 50 or so kittens, so I took her on. Covered the bathroom floor with bathmats so Susie could have traction and not track pee around. She slept in a wash basket. The house was cool, so she sometimes wore a dog sweater. She lived with the cats and dogs. We bottle fed her forever, because deer are such enthusiastic nursers, it's fun! We put her in a pasture connected to the backyard and she lived with sheep and goats. For about 4 years, no babies. No deer fencing, so bucks could easily come and go. Don't think she knew she was a deer. Then she got pregnant with twins. Every year, twins. Since they were wild, they all left after about a year. But Susie never left her small pasture and never became aloof to humans. She's an ansolute angel. Wonderful to get to see Beauty every !
When our latest was being neutered (hush hush, illegal) by our vet at our home, I figured out how old Susie is. 17. The vet was amazed. He said 7, 8 yrs max if they're in the wild.
It's going to be our personal day of national mourning when Susie passes and don't think I'm not going to fight with our newspaper editor for an obituary with photo, laws be damned.
Our current bottle boy is still nursing...he loves it. He comes in at night...yrs ago a snake killed a fawn and I'm not going thru that hesrtache again!

(25,812 posts)A while back I had three, but they went on to (as I like to say) that great litterbox in the sky. And I'm doing lots of traveling so owning so much as a potted plant would be irresponsible. Someday I will be too old to travel, and then I'll get a rescue cat or three and settle in to being a crazy cat lady.
My son does know that if he ever has to put me in a home to make sure he finds one that has resident cats. Considering that as young as three years old I was dragging home stray cats, I doubt I could ever get so senile that I wouldn't still want to be with cats.
