(10,337 posts)It is all too easy to have your expenditures expand to meet your income. Enjoy, but be careful, it can change in the blink of an eye. Been there, several times. From two Ferraris in the garage to living with my mother in law and various places in between.
But damn, doesn't it feel good not to have to worry where your next rent check is gonna come from? Been there, done that, still doing it. I retired about two years ago and we are comfortable but I still shop from the bottom shelf because I just worked too hard for what I have to squander it.

(6,001 posts)been there for 47 years and can be there again tomorrow...but DAYUM it feels good to have everything payed ahead and see the bank account showing thousands
This will be my only thread about it but I just wanted to share how good my life is finally going.
and MOST IMPORTANT...I found a local PAWS and can afford to make a real difference for them

I don't know shit about PAWS though and it killed me that you had to let your pet go when you moved. I couldn't do that.

(13,869 posts)Even if you don't want to spend the $$ for tickets, there is a lot of free stuff to do. I've gone every year since it started in the 70s.

(13,869 posts)I live in Columbia and mentioned in your thread that you should take in some of the Spoleto events. It is three week arts and music festival that takes place each year in Spoleto, Italy and since about 1977 in Charleston. It started May 25 and runs through June 10. Don't know if opera, dance, classical music is of interest to you, but there is a lot of cutting edge contemporary stuff also. Philip Glass will premiere his new opera there, Tennessee Williams last play premiered there, Leonard Cohen, Laurie Anderson, etc. My wife and I go for three or four days every year. A lot of the events are free, and something called Piccolo Spoleto runs concurrently and is much cheaper than the main events. check it out: http://spoletousa.org/home

(209 posts)Financial stress is the hardest stress in the world. It can kill a relationship quick too.
You know when you'll really feel rich ? When you can go to the grocery store and buy what you like, not just what you need. LOL.
Enjoy your good fortune. It sure is nice to read such happy news.
