Kind of like a fractal flame image, too. And, getting the hawk in there

I was about a quarter mile away, using a 200mm zoom. I didn't even see the bird when I was setting up the shot, noticed it in post processing. Sometimes you just get lucky.

The sky gradient is perfect to catch the last bit of sunset and allow the stars to come out. Like the filter effect on the moon too. Nice timing and set up.

I'm not sure what filter I was using at the time, only that it was a long exposure (you can see it in the shifting of the stars and the plane-lighting trail.)

It is one of my favorite night shots I've done, and haven't quite been able to duplicate since.

I have a picture of my cat who died just last year up for now. But when I'm ready for a new screen saver, yours it will be. Can I share it on facebook too?

I have my "copyright" though that doesn't stop others from using stuff anyway. I just enjoy taking photos for fun, not so much profit

DU for me. I love the gradient of shades of blue. Stars are my favourite. You must have been well out of a city when you took the shot.

and even then, they're a five-minute drive outside of the city. I always end up sleeping much longer out there as there's no traffic noise!

Here's a pic of their house, looking uphill, and another long-duration photo. The image folder says it was Christmas, 2007:
