We rented a U-Haul and picked up 20 bags of mulch today.

How much back-breaking work should I expect to put in in 85-90F heat tomorrow?

Actually, I need to kill/pull weeds first. I guess I should get out there pretty early in the morning.

Wanna come over and help? I promise, some great company and great lunch, plus, of course, plenty of water and breaks throughout the day. Southern Maryland...

Agreed. I get mulch delivered every couple of years and save some for fall mulch-in. HopeHoops May 2012 #7

tomorrow. Go out early, take LOTS of breaks, drink LOTS of water, and don't overdo. The work will still be there on Monday ...

I just finished my mini-butterfly garden ... I waited until 6pm to get out there (because I just do not get up early ... I'm very much a night person) and I was wiped out by 8pm.

Even when she knows what the weather will be like, she'll get out there in her straw hat. But it looks like today she's decided to stay in. And I'll go do the grocery shopping instead of yardwork.

Seriously, the next couple days are not the time to do this. I also live in Maryland, and I cut the grass today and was done about 11:30 am, and was way too hot and overcome by the humidity. There is cooler and less humid weather ahead of us.

It's Memorial Day weekend. Kick back, have some cool drinks in the shade or in air-conditioned comfort.

Yes, on your advice and Flaxbee's, I'll kick back. Well, there's housework to be done, but thankfully we have A/C.

It does just fine sitting there all summer. It's rather quiet and doesn't have wild parties with garden gnomes or anything like that.

At any rate, I'm not sure how much things cost where you live, but around here it's far cheaper to buy bulk mulch and have it delivered than buying bags and renting a u-haul. I have a truck deliver a couple of yards of mulch every year.

We needed a new screen door for the sliding glass door, and no way to get it home with one of our cars. It wasn't cheap, but a helluva lot cheaper than delivery.

I don't know why Mrs. V. decided to get bagged mulch (she rules our Outdoors).
