I used to have a few. I kept thinking, there has to be something you can do with these. I gave up and tossed them out.

received the internet of sorts over satellite. Sometimes it worked ... but the whole shebang was unreliable. I think Hughes Satellite did it way back then and I guess became Direct-tv? Can't recall all the details now.

took 2 of the old big satellite dishes, you know the ones that were 8 feet across.
Well he bolted the 2 together and added lights. When he was done he had himself a very reputable flying saucer parked on his front lawn.
There back!

Apparently, if you're in the right location, there's a lot of unencrypted stuff you can still get.

I'll look....

The big commercial site I'm thinking of is gone. It doesn't look as if there's anything recent.

That was back in ‘99, so maybe it’s different now. I left it bolted to the house when I moved and switched to U-verse at the new place.

They sent me a pre-paid shipping label to return the boxes. I guess it's too expensive to ship back the dishes.

I have one sitting around here - maybe I should make a bird bath out of it - we can always use another water source for the birds!

Which is funny, because a competing satellite company will just put up a new dish, and so will the old one because their independent contractors want to charge for the full installation.

Some of our neighbors have multiple unused dishes attached to their homes.
