Just got word that one of my patients died. No word yet on cause; possibly overdose.

My Care Coordinator says all she heard was 'trauma', so that might not be it.

3. Well, in fact, it does happen a few times a year.

Most often, we get a phone call from the shelter reporting that one of our patients died in the night.

It never gets easier...

5. I'm a Physician Assistant, actually, working in primary care for the homeless community.

I'd rather serve homeless patients than almost any other type of patient population. But, like every other sphere of medicine, it has its stresses and unique challenges.
