They may also use your Medicare number to bill for other services, not rendered.

advocate represents. Words like "final notice," "advocate," "Medicare," "a benefit of your ...." are manipulative and induce anxiety. Not a good idea to even press the key for the do not call list as it indicates to them that your phone number is a live and active one.

These messages are left on our answering machine as we never answer calls from numbers we do not recognize. The caller claims it is our final notice (we wish!) and if we don’t call back we’ll be declared ineligible by Medicare to get this brace in the future. So in other words, call back quickly!
Then they give the directive to press one to speak to a representative or three to be placed on the do not call list.

The part about being our final notice is complete BS. We’ve received this call or something similar dozens of times. I think there is a way to block it on our phone (bundled with our cable/internet service), but I have not figured it out yet. Also, they just switch to another number....clever rats that they are.

My husband’s step father responded to a similar call and went to a local doctor to get fitted for a brace. It never fit right, he couldn’t get any help about it and his insurance (Tricare) got billed a huge amount for it. It was never resolved. And he has a useless brace. So be warned.
