Is wine bullshit?

Don't get me wrong... I like wine, and even love it on occasion.

But it's like feng shui to me.... remember when Penn & Teller exposed THAT as bullshit?

Got to thinking about all this as I watched "Bottle Shock" on Netflix last night. (miss you, Alan Rickman!)

They folded like a cheap suit and I haven't heard a peep out of them in years.

(Stupid taste buds. I was bluffing).

Beyond that it's highly diminishing returns.

Occasionally I'll find some very good $8 wines, but those vanish from the shelves rapidly.

Damn you, internet!

Distributors. He has always said that a good bottle of wine does not have to be expensive. Of course expensive wine can be a very once in a while delight...like the $150 bottle of port he brought back from Australia.

He very much favors Spanish wines. Says you get the most for your money with wines from Spain

Come to think of it, it would be interesting to do a study and give people naltrexone (which blocks the effects of alcohol) and see if they still like wine....

The Aldi Winking Owl Pinot Grigio brand serves us quite nicely occasionally. And at $2.89 a bottle it's amazing.

There's often a buy one get one deal for a Cabernet for $15-$20 at the store. I just go for whatever brand they are offering the deal. I don't really drink it for the taste. However, I do like a sweet muscadine from time to time.
