(131,231 posts)It's great to see this horse finally getting a good life, but it just breaks my heart that any animal could be so neglected in the first place.

(30,275 posts)My blacksmith has shown me pics of hooves that bad. It's hard to believe people can be that stupid and uncaring. That's probably 3 -5 years of hoof growth. As an example, my horses get trimmed every 5-6 weeks. Maybe stretch it to 8 weeks in the winter when hoof growth really slows down.
And this is a pretty little pony, especially when he gets weight back on. I'd say, the only reason he was like this, and kept unseen in a barn, was that, they knew they couldn't sell him in that shape, and they knew if anyone saw him they would be charged with animal cruelty.
Love happy endings!
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
