True Blood Fans Question of the Day: What's gonna happen with Tara

last we saw of Tara right before the closing credits was part of her brain being blown away as she jumped in front of the bullet meant for Sookie. Debbie Pelt, high on V and tired of her boyfriend Alcide pining for Sookie, decided to end Sookie once and for all but Tara sacrificed herself instead. After Sookie then killed Debbie, she grabs Tara and screams for help. Cue closing credits.

The True Blood writers left us with a MASSIVE cliffhanger because we aren't sure if Tara is dead or alive. My guess is she is still alive AND since the incident happened at night I'm sure that Eric and Bill will both be at Sookie's house ASAP to see what happened.

If Tara is alive, there is a chance that she could be saved but I'm thinking if she lost too much blood then the only way of saving her would to turn her into a Vampire, something that Tara really hates. I'm thinking the only person that could turn Tara would be Pam, since Eric and Bill both have protogees and Jessica (bill's vamp) is probably too young to turn someone. Pam is probably very desparate to get back into Eric's good graces but she has serious problems with Tara - I think it would be a Win-Win situation to have Pam turn Tara into a vampire.

But the True Blood folks are keeping mum on what happened with Tara. She's not been in any of the promos and no word of her being on set has been mentioned.

SO what do you True Blood fans think?

I love when they finally got in and killed Marnie and that guy was like you have to go through me first and then Eric walks up to him and rips his heart out. So funny! I hope Tara doesn't get killed off. Several of my friends don't like her, but I do.

I agree it would be cool to have her turn vamp. I love Pam...that would be a wise move as she is Sookie's best friend.

Did I miss that Jessica took off? My friend thinks she did, but I might have missed that.

I love when Sam beat the shit out of Marcus. Sam is one of my favorite characters. I think he's so cool.

I hadn't looked into it as much as you have, but I think the "turning her into a vampire" is very interesting. Except, with Tara's temperament, she just might off herself just to be vindictive.

Another possibility is that Sookie has her own healing powers.

A real farfetched possibility is that Tara turns into a zombie.

Zombies are the one genre the writers haven't touched. I just hope they don't start out with Tara. Besides, that department belongs to el brujo.

I am with you. I think The Boys will arrive and save the day somehow. It would be really good theater if Pam came along and saved Tara. I get a little confused because I read the books and the death of Debbie was somewhat different and of course Tara wasn't involved at all.

Russell might be an interesting fit to sire Tara..she is so damn angry all the time. I think it would suit her to be super blood thirsty like Russell and what a turn for that character!

Waiting sucks

He has the blessing of the writer of the Sookie Stackhouse series but last season was probably the last time the books & TV show will have much in common. Remember in the books Lafayette died at the end of season #1 and Tara was a very minor character in the books (she ran the dress shop where Bill bought the dress for Sookie).

I think Alan Ball (series creator and writer) heard the complaints about not enough vamp action last year and is making the Vampires pretty hard core center story this year.

One of the things I recall with season #5 was the introduction of the were-tigers and a new boyfriend for Sookie (Quinn). I suspect there will be no Quinn and instead it'll be Alcide she'll date.

Pam could save Tara without turning her into a vampire. Just as Bill and Eric saved Sookie several times without turning her. Ditto Jessica and Jason.

The method of turning people into vamps is different from book to TV. I think it's good that TV and books are different because you would have no suspense or season-end cliff hangers. The fairy thing is very different in the books also.

Anybody read the latest book? I could go on and on about Book vs TV, love them both and am a big Alan Ball fan from American Beauty through Six Feet Under. I won't blurt out any spoilers about my thoughts on the last book, though. yet.

Sam has the Shreveport werewolf pack after him now, which will result in Alcide being forced into choices there.
Bill and Eric are now much more on the same side after killing Nan Flanagan, and will have to be more so now that Russell has apparently unearthed himself.

Lafayette is now possessed by Marnie's spirit. Will he have the combined magical powers of Jesus, Maria, and Marnie, or is he just a medium who doesn't know how to harness the magic? My guess is Jesus and maybe his Mexican relatives will appear to help him with this.

Jason and Jessica's thing will be complicated by the Rev. Newell now turned vamp. Jason will probably go back and forth siding with Hoyt that all vampires are evil and nothing but trouble, to being saved by Jessica thereby seeing the good in some individuals.

Andy, Holly, Arlene, Terry and the kids - who knows. The fairy thing will be kept going by Andy's encounter in the woods, causing tension between him and Holly. And is that baby still a devil child influenced by Rene?

I hope there's no were tiger coming into Sookie's picture. I didn't like that guy in the books. Leaning more to a Sam vs Alcide thing, with both Bill and Eric popping in once in a while.

What else?

6. Lafayette would have Antonia not Marnie

Remember how Grandma Stackhouse reached into Lafayette and pulled her out. I think Marnie is dead and gone but you're right about Antonia. I know in the previews they showed Lafayette berating Sookie over being an 'Angel of Death'. Antonia may have backed down from her tirade against the Vampires but she still may be around. Antonia was just upset at how Marnie abused her power and attacked innocent humans in the process. Perhaps Lafayette is a better venue.

I'm thinking that season #5 is getting near the end of the show. Most HBO shows really only last 5-7 years but since nothing was said about season #5 being the last season I'm thinking there will be one more season left. That's the reason why the TV show hasn't been following the books as closely since it would be almost impossible to do all 13 books (that's how many books Charlaine Harris says she will write for the book series). Think about this - it looks like there will be a returning baddie from each of the previous seasons coming back this year. Rene (Season #1) will factor heaving in the Arlene/Terry/Terry's Army Bro storyline. Rev. Newlin (Season #2) will be messing with Jessica/Jason (couldn't bring back Maryann since her heart was crushed). Russell (Season #3) will be back to get his revenge on Eric/Bill/Sookie and that would leave Antonia for season #4 although not sure how she'll fit in but will be seen thru Lafayette.

This should be a great season!

I hope you are right about leaving the were-tiger to the books and subbing in Alcide instead.. I think he and Sookie are pretty hot together. Though so far, no one can come close to Eric IMHO. In the books, there was a lot of speculation about Debbie's death, Who did it? How was it done? and where is her body? But then Eric was still in his amnesiac phase and he hid the body. Debbie's family and her psycho sister came in to it, blah blah blah.. I hope Ball gives that little story-tendril a big pass.

There are many reasons that I prefer the series to the books and I love how some of the minor characters were developed.. mostly Tara and Lafayette. Didn't like the were-panther plot at all..so I am glad that's over and I would be very happy if the evil baby plot went away as well, although having Rene tip toe in on Halloween in the last episode was kind of cool. I like him.

I am really looking forward to the Rev. Newlin twist. His appearance actually surprised me. I wonder if his wife will be involved as well and who do you think turned him? That could make a difference as far as how strong he turns out to be.

Obvious if Jason was to be attacked by another Vampire, Jessica could swoop in and stake her claim on Jason. She is older that Newlin (by about 2 years) so she could defend Jason. Plus if she claimed 'Jason is Mine' then technically Newlin couldn't touch him.

But in the spoiler there was a clip where Jessica tells Newlin that 'The king is my daddy' and Newlin says 'Not anymore'. That really has my interest - big interest! Who did turn him.

I find alot of RL ironies in the whole Steve Newlin storyline. That storyline mirrored alot of what was happening in RL with the LGBT communities and the attacks by the right-wing churches. I always wondered if Steve Newlin had the hots for Jason, thinking that Newlin came across like a repressed homosexual. I also remember reading in the books about Faery descendants that they had some sort of chemical attractiveness that would draw people towards them. Even if Jason isn't like his sister he still has Faery blood in him.

Finally, and I have to watch that trailer again - I swear I saw Jason wielding the light thing. Perhaps he's going to start showing latent Faery traits although it seems like he can still be glamoured (sookie cannot be glamoured)

Edit note - there is also the off-chance that Jason could also turn into a Were-Panther. Although I don't want to see ANY of those freaks from Hot Shots I would think it to be cool if Jason did turn into a Were.

I had the same feeling you did about his attraction to Jason and the parallels with 'religion' and the LGBT Community.

I would much rather see Jason wield his Faery power than turn into a were-panther, although I think he is safe because nothing happened on the full moon when he should have turned if he was going to.

I read that Tara is alive, how they will accomplish that is anyone guess. She also gets involved with someone new that we would not expect.
