(62,444 posts)Im pretty sure that whoever made them, handled them, and packaged them washed their hands after using the bathroom, so you probably have nothing to worry about.
Or maybe not. Spin the wheel. Life is like a trip to Vegas everyday.

(67,112 posts)all I start wondering who slept in the bed before me. Can I smell any BO? The remote is supposed to be super dirty. You know, I never used to think about any of this stuff. I don't obsess with it, but it crosses my mind. I've heard of some people wiping everything down with Clorox wipes. I haven't gotten that bad. I just fall asleep and think F it, I'll see what happens the next day/week. OMG, any itches or something!

(24,324 posts)of OCD I have EVER seen, also a germ/dirt freak.. (poor woman).
He bought a vacuum cleaner to vacuum the SPIDERS outside their front door!
When they bought a 2nd home-a townhouse- near me ( his wife and I are still good friends) he cloroxed (or something) every freakin' surface in the place... walls, windows, floors.. took him days..
Doesn't want his 6 year old son to get his hands dirty.( son likes me much better than his father cause I play baseball and soccer with him and let him get dirty..) LOL
I mean it gets much worse than that, --you can imagine... he's also a control freak, but that's another story..
Only HE knows anything---

(1,009 posts)sort of. That kind of germaphobia is usually triggered by a serious illness or chronically getting sick. My father was the same way because he had chronic gut issues. For me, it was multiple episodes of food poisoning. Sometimes it is triggered by the loss of a loved one too. Thank goodness though I wasnt that way when my son was little.
pangaia
(24,324 posts)Sometimes there is a valid rationality behind it.
But, also often it becomes obsessive.....
Clarity2
(1,009 posts)exhausting. I dont obsessively hand wash, or have OCD, but food handling and safety is an obsession.

It was a lovely dress, she put it on before it was washed... and she got a terrible rash.

(15,805 posts)pieces worn next to the skin. The washing process will remove sizing, a plastic substance used to strengthen yarns before weaving and can cause skin problems. Washing also removes residues from chemical dyes that can irritate sensitive skin. Washing removes critters like bed bugs and lice, or their eggs and pieces of them that can contaminate fabric stored in warehouses.
Washing removes and chemical coatings that manufacturers apply to enhance the visual appearance and feel of clothing. The garment you purchase might have been tried on by other customers, even worn before getting returned and resold, so washing is a good idea for many reasons.

(6,913 posts)Back in the 70s I read a great article in the New Yorker about a mysterious medical problem some people had. It was eventually determined that their new jeans had been shipped in a truck and placed next to a shipment of a pesticide, which unexpectedly, and invisibly, leaked. If people didnt wash the jeans before wearing, they were poisoned.
