It can be simplified to this:

All of trig (and areas of circles and a lot other math) is complicated by being based around a piece of data (pi) that is not only not-terribly-useful but is arguably the most inelegant constant that could have been chosen out of a multitude of constants of ratios of circles.

The underlying math is less important to understand than that is.
