going to happen and you feel like the sky is going to fall on you. It’s been over 20 years now but I still remember it so well. Hang in there. They have so many treatments now that help a lot of people. And if you need a second opinion on diagnosis or treatment, the Cleveland Clinic has a very large MS practice with wonderful people. I go there for treatment. Good luck to you. You can private message me if you want.

i lost my sister to ms just 2 years ago, but i have a good friend now who has it, and she is doing so well.
my sister got sick 40 years ago, and there was just nothing to be done. nothing was really known. hell, the dx wasnt even that solid.
it wasnt even understood then that it could have psychological impacts. she was dx'd as bipolar, and on lithium for years, which led to more than one complication. that added so much to her pain and isolation. there was still so much stigma then.

now my friend is treated for psyche symptoms, and it is just part of the disease. she is mostly very functional, tho she has to adjust things to fit her situation.
she is a fierce warrior for a cure, doing 2 fundraisers a year.
she is a singer, artist, teacher, writer, monologuist.

research is moving so fast. northwestern hospital, here in chicago, has a big research dept. they actually have reversed it w bone marrow transplants. that's too risky, they say, but now they know it can be done if they can refine it.

gene therapies cant be that far away.
and as shocking as the dx is, at least the wondering is over. you have to start you life over then, but you are out of limbo.

yes, lady, there is hope.
hang in there.

Recently told that myself. Keep your sense of humor as ive found its truly the best medicine . It'll probably take a while to come to terms with it. For me, (after initial shock/despair) I was relieved to finally know what was wrong with me

I wish I could make it better. There's a whole army if wonderful folks with MS. A lot of support groups too.
