Since I live in an urban area, smoke has never been in my forecast.

I'm sorry!

...all the way "up here" from the Gladiator fire. It's been clear this week, though.

How can it only be 100 in Tucson if that's what it's supposed to be up here in Hell? I feel cheated, somehow. It's supposed to be like a thousand degrees cooler here or sumthin.

its for the Dragoon area - I am at 4500 feet - 'bout the same as you I think, although further south

I think Tucson is supposed to go a bit over 100 today.

"Partly cloudy with areas of smoke. Lows 70-72."

The smoke comes from all the fireworks people set off. People out there are absolutely nuts about fireworks. Same deal at Chinese (lunar) New Year.

When the wind was blowing in the right direction, we got the smoke from the big Okeefenokee Swamp fire. That sucker burned half the spring, all summer long, and into the fall. We're hundreds of miles away from the Okeefenokee, yet the smoke still got pretty thick at times.
