My kid signed up for undergraduate Engineers Without Borders.

He's going to be working, remotely, on water purification systems for the third world, besides his regular classes and research.

He sprung it on me yesterday, out of nowhere, during our weekly phone call.

I'm a proud papa.

They're facing hard times, but they have it in them to be a great generation, those Millennials. They are so much better than we were.

3. Refreshing to hear young people appreciated!

I volunteer for AFS, high school student exchange. Over the years, I have been pleased and honored to meet not just international students from all over the world, but also local students who have graduated, over the last 20+ years, from different schools in my part of the country. Even without doing an exchange, the local students have completed higher education, have jobs, families, contribute to their communities. But I hear people complaining about the younger generations not being any good. It isn't just luck that I know these young people. The younger generation, as you say, are becoming a great generation.
