I keep having this song running through my head

I feel so alone.
I play by the rules, went to school, work hard , lost it all.
Rebuilt from nothing, just to have the rug pulled from under.
Rebuilt again. Found a little happiness. Again, playing by the rules, worked hard. Lost it all.

I don't know why this song is in my head. It's just making me feel worse.

The idea that if we work hard then life should be a certain way is an example of attachment.

Life is going to be filled with painful events. If we can release our expectations of our lives being some other way in this moment or that moment then at least we don’t double our pain.

Gather those you love about you, keep breathing deeply, dwell in gratitude as much as you can and try to let go of attachments.

The Dalai Lama would say - with a chuckle - of course, this sounds simple, but no one ever said it is easy.

Linda Ronstadt launched me into a life-long love of female vocalists in general and soprano voices in particular.

BTW, James Ingram, her duet partner here died this year on January 29.
