Just want to say hi and that I'm glad to be here. I lurked here for a while and finally registered so I could respond to some of the interesting posts that i've seen.
I'm a lifelong Dem from a Dem family. It's good to have a troll free place for discussions.

This place isn't without its flaws, but they're relatively minor compared to every other political discussion forum I've ever checked out.

Yes, there are many interesting posts every day! And it's great fun to discuss things (within the rules) but alas there will always be one or two trolls...
But you will appreciate the rules here!
DU is addictive as hell.

Trolls do occasionally get through, but we get rid of them pretty quickly.
On the left side of the Homepage, there's a pulldown menu of various topics. Scroll to the bottom until you see Places. Click on US and a list of states will come up. Scroll down to yours and click it. Click the "subscribe" button just under the header.

Glad you’re here. Hope you’ll find DU beneficial and fun. It’s a very informative board and (usually) a safe haven from the prevailing madness.
but I think you're underestimating the skill of trolls to weasel in where unwanted.

I am here in Pittsburgh for over 30 years, but before that I lived in upstate New York. Loved it there too, but Pittsburgh is my home.
1. Please feel free to praise people wherever you can. If you like what someone says, please feel free to say so. It will often make both you and that person smile.
2. The more controversial the subject, the more that you may want to choose your words carefully.
3. Feel free to disagree with people, but remember this guideline: The more politely that you disagree with others, the more politely they will tend to respond to your disagreement.

It helps me keep what sanity I have after the 2016 election. Hope it helps you do the same.
There are trolls from time to time, but you can alert on the thread and get it removed if the jury agrees. You won't see this every day, but it does occasionally happen. Again, Welcome!
