(6,831 posts)We started out with SIX. Five of which were female, all pregnant at the time of purchase. It just kind of spiraled after that. The crias (babies) are so precious. It's amazing that they are up and walking in about an hour or so. Your heart just melts watching them gain momentum, struggling at first to stay up on all four feet, then within a few hours, they start running. It's awesome.

Unfortunately, we had to sell off everything due to the economy of the early 2010s. It broke our hearts. But we found good homes for all of them, and had visitation rights. We later moved hours away, so now I have to travel to another ranch to see Alpacas. But it was a wonderful experience and I am glad that we had the opportunity to do it. Being a city kid, it was fun and a constant learning experience.
