Also - if you live near a Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise, do try their Chocolate Chocolate Chip cake (not a typo). Delectable.

There is a Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise less than a mile from my house. Kind of a mixed blessing.

(2,341 posts)I have a recipe for a deep dark version. After making it, you are directed to freeze it for several hours, and then let it warm up before serving -- but I love it still half-frozen. Mmmmmmmmmyummy.

BTW, they also have a chocolate bar with a label decorated by Cartoonist Rob Rogers.
You may remember that he was fired by McClatchy Press for making fun of Cheeto too much.

My wife and I buy a big portion of our Christmas gifts on that website as well.
The Meltaways are also unreal - various nut butters (almond, cashew and peanut) and chocolate confections that are like what a Reese's bar in heaven would taste like

(23,612 posts)also chocolate soda and do you know how hard it is to find one of those damn things? I found a place in PHoenix that makes them and the waitress showed me how they make theirs. Apparently, soda fountains and the like no longer have the selzer machines so use sparkling water.
I went into Braum's (local burger joint/dairy store/ice cream and treat purveyor) Not only do they not have them, the workers did not even know what an ice cream soda is! They offered me a float though

(11,639 posts)I'm have a serious addiction to chocolate. One of my all time favorite chocolate desserts goes by several different names including Chocolate Punch Bowl Cake, Death By Chocolate, or as I like to call it Better Than Sex Cake.
Basically, I break up pieces of chocolate cake and place it in a punch bowl. I place chocolate pudding on top of the cake layer and whipped cream (cool whip works too) on top of the pudding. I keep repeating the layers in the punch bowl. This type of cake isn't limited to chocolate either. Several times I took angel food cake, vanilla pudding, strawberry glaze and whipped cream and kept repeating the layers.
This isn't my photo, but here's an image of what it looks like. Not everyone makes them all the same as they can be customized. Enjoy!

(11,005 posts)unless there was a way for me to reach in with a spoon, and start eating it! Oh my gosh, that looks so good.
I am a lifelong chocoholic. My dad swore I bled chocolate rather than blood.

(11,639 posts)These cakes are easy to layer, although it does take some time to do so. These are easily layered in a Tupperware mixing bowl as well.
I hope that you get a chance to discover this savory dessert. There is a reason why I call it Better Than Sex Cake.
Dem2theMax
(11,005 posts)I am definitely going to make this. Do you use instant pudding or cooked pudding? I hate instant pudding, always use the cooked kind. And I have to have real whipped cream.
If I'm going to eat something bad for me, it's going to have every really good ingredient in it that I can possibly get.
Niagara
(11,639 posts)but I don't see why cooked pudding couldn't be used in the layering process. It might add some bonus flavor that I have previously missed. I don't blame you for having to have real whipped cream, nothing beats real whipped cream.
Let me know how you like it when you get the chance to make it.
Dem2theMax
(11,005 posts)so I do believe I will be picking up some ingredients! I already have the cake mix. I promise I will let you know how it comes out. And if I can learn how to post a photo online, you might even get one of those.
I need a pretty glass bowl too.
