repertoire of sounds! I live around ravens, when I was up in the mountains they were everywhere, and they are very interesting and super intelligent.

A good book to read about them: The Mind of the Raven. It looks like a huge book but it's an easy read. Written by a researcher, he conducts all kinds of studies to discover what they're habits and personalities are like. I learned a lot about them.

Ravens are corvids, like crows and Jays, and can be taught to speak. When they fly overhead, you can hear a great whooshing of their wings, even when they are quite a distance above, well if you're in a quiet place that is. Up where I used to live, it was mostly nonhuman sounds that you heard, and it was wonderful and I miss it.

There is a kind of blackbird in these parts that do that for a couple weeks prior to migrating out. Not in flocks that large either.
