There's a few technical sites I don't block ads on but they only have highly targeted technical advertising that doesn't move, flash, or make noise.

Our television plays DVDs and Netflix, that's all it does, and my phone doesn't have any advertising supported apps, so I don't see any advertising there either.

I like sites like DU that let me turn off advertising by subscribing to them.

Love it. It's my local DNS server and just returns "0.0.0.0" for all the sites that are blocked. It doesn't require any software on the clients, so it works on all the computers and smart devices in the house.

It's not so much the ad blocking that I love, but the increased speed of the web sites. It's amazing how much faster sites load now.

And yeah, it's not a solution for non-computer enthusiasts. I wouldn't suggest it unless you (or a friend) are already interested in Raspberry Pi's.
