Holy f****g shit. Lawyer faked his grandfather's death to skip a court-date... And it went BAAAAAAD.

The lawyer in question has a reputation for being somewhat shady.

A court-date in a case was arranged (at his request) and he failed to show up.

The judge demanded that lawyer give him a good explanation why he shouldn't be punished to pay the attorney-fees of the other side for that day.

(This is where the lawyer should have admitted that he fucked up, accept his punishment and move on.)

Instead the lawyer told the judge "I couldn't come because my grandpa died!"

- "Well, please provide proof of that to the court."

- "I couldn't come because my grandpa died!"

- "You already said that. Please provide proof of that to the court."

- "I couldn't come because my grandpa died!"

- "The court hereby orders you to produce his death-certificate by that date."

- "I can't show you my dead grandpa's death-certificate. It's an invasion of privacy!"

- "You will be allowed to show the death-certificate to the judge in private. It will not be part of the public record. The court hereby orders you to produce his death-certificate by that other date."

- "You can't force me to show you my dead grandpa's death-certificate. The court oversteps its rights!"

- "You are hereby ordered to pay $100 a day until you produce the death-certificate."

- "Dear judge, can we talk about this in person? Also, could you please stay your decision?"

- "No. Stop writing me unless you can explain why we should talk in person and unless you can explain why I should stay my decision."

(16 business-days go by. The lawyer now owes the court $1600.)

- "As $100 day is not enough, the lawyer is hereby ordered to pay $500 per day until he provides the death-certificate to the court. Also, a court-date has been scheduled where he shall explain why we shouldn't send him to jail for contempt of court."

Did you know that it's a bad idea for a lawyer to lie to a judge?

would have caved in before it got that stupid.

My first thought was like those above, this sounds like a Trump or a Republican.

There has to be something in their make up that would cause so many to be arrested at that point in their life where they think this is good enough or even fair.
