(21,335 posts)His body profile resembles a border collie. Could be a collie shepherd mix. Whatever the case he is cute, smart, and energetic for his age.

(8,445 posts)Seriously, that was adorable. It reminded me of my Murphy.
I used to take Murphy to the park for an hour every morning for an hour walk/run. One time he saw something at the playground and practically drug me there to go get it. It was a stuffed wolf. Murphy picked it up and headed straight for my van, dragging me the whole way. It became his favorite toy for a very long time. He was so proud of it.

(5,558 posts)I also had a Murphy, a Jack Russell terrier. He would steal slippers, then "sell" them back for a treat.

(8,445 posts)Sounds like your Murphy was pretty smart.
I guess that's what my granddog Barkley may have been doing. He was a huge dog, and when I'd dog sit he'd take my shoes, and sometimes even my jacket and hold them hostage if I didn't remember to put them where he couldn't get them. I couldn't help but laugh seeing him run through the house with my jacket in his mouth to take it through the dog door and out into the backyard so he could taunt me. I'd always have to go home cold because it would be full of dirt and of course dog drool.
My Murphy looked like a Chow/Shepherd mix (but we always suspected he may have had a bit of wolf in him). He seemed to have no idea what toys were when we first brought him into our home, but he figured it out quickly.

(6,046 posts)They manage to eat them all. Even the strong tug rope I bought them. They steal towels from the kitchen sink and eat them I try to keep them away from stuff like that cause I'm scared they'll get a bowel obstruction.
And god forbid I give them a toy that squeaks. They're eaten like they're made of sirloin.

(20,212 posts)May this be a blessing 💝 to all who read and have understanding:
According to the Church Fathers animals do have a soul. It is not quite the same as a human soul which was enhanced by the breath of God during man's creation. But yes, they do have a soul and share in the glory of God to the best that they are able. Animals are without sin and God speaks to them through their instincts.
Animals show us God's love in many ways: their service to and with us, their example of unconditional love, and simply by existing in their varied forms, habits and habitats they show us the power and creative action of God. Of course we pray for them. The Church prays for all of creation. In addition, Holy Scripture and the Saints instruct us in compassionate care, and Holy Scripture and Church Services instruct us on what our role is in regard to the animals.

I'm not Christian and I don't believe in any organized religion but I do like that verse.

(20,212 posts)An ignoramus in the oval office has no feelings for animals, humans, you name it. Only self-serving feelings for himself.
Woe unto him.

(8,445 posts)I used to post on a very contentious board a lot of years ago. There was a particularly vile poster who thought she was the best Christian in the world. Whenever someone would post about their beloved pet dying, a lot of other posters would post condolences and the Rainbow Bridge poem. She would be her usual hateful self and say that dogs don't go to heaven. She was one of the meanest people I've ever encountered on the Internet. She's a teacher at a religious school. Scary.

I have somehow ended up being the "owner" of four cats, but I'm really more of a dog person. I just don't know how anyone could treat a dog as anything less than the most awesome creature on earth.

(3,676 posts)I had a dog who lived to be 16 and another 13 years old.
She must have taken really good care of him. And he's a nice healthy weight too.
