We like the Trader Joe version for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Plus, I cube the remaining tofurkey loaf and add it to a split pea with vegetables soup.

(39,171 posts)but I have tasted it before and it was not bad. Perhaps next year I will try to slip it onto the menu as an adjunct to the real turkey

(2,945 posts)dried blueberries, scallions and enough Poppyseed dressing to cling it together and then eat it on sandwiches, preferably croissants, with some appropriate cheese. Never tried tofu turkey.

(38,311 posts)It's not a big deal anymore, but when I was a kid my parents served a vegetarian Thanksgiving and it nearly started a war in our family.
We had Thanksgiving in a restaurant the following year. I suspect my grandma made the reservations as soon as she got home.
Nowadays the hunting fishing carnivores are able to coexist peacefully with the vegetarians and vegans. There have been a lot of mixed marriages in our family since then and the most militant carnivores are long deceased.
One of my nephews is a hunting fishing bacon-eating carnivore (who despises Trump, by the way...) but he doesn't freak out when meat isn't served at a meal.
My wife is vegetarian approaching vegan. I'm mostly vegetarian, but I won't turn down fish or meat, especially if someone in my family caught and prepared it.
In spite of my name, I haven't been hunting this century.

(42,641 posts)For myself, growing up where the uncles always hunted for food, we ate venison regularly, as well as wild bird.
But I gave up meat in 1986, and while my parents still ate meat, I simply ate more vegetables. My grown daughters will eat bird meat, but no one eats beef or pork.
