I would like to thank everyone that helped me through my recent difficulties in life. I asked for help and the people here responded immediately. The great thing is that you are all wonderful people and that's why I've been coming here for years. I don't comment much but, I read a great many of the posts and appreciate the passion here for a better society. Those that contributed will forever remain in my heart. Those that offered uplifting and positive reinforcement in my time of disarray and chaos kept me hoping for the best. All of you, together, got me through my shit storm and I am forever grateful.
This website is a testament to the world we can have. It tells us like it is. It shows us beautiful pictures of wildlife. It gives us funny cartoons. It tells us the brutal truth of our political realities. It helps us cope. I'm just one person that, in the grand scheme of things, really doesn't matter. But, all of you, in my time of need made sure to let me know that I do. I can't possibly imagine how I'll be able to repay you for your kindness and generosity to me but, I'll for damn sure give it my best shot. I still have a roof over my head because of you and some of our mutual friends over at Wonkette (DU and Wonkette are about the only sites I comment on). I love you all! Thank you so very much!

As I've said before I've been coming here for years but, just don't comment that much. I do read most of the replies to articles, though. I think DU is an extremely important entity for everyone that desires a better society. Especially in these times. People can (and will sometimes) believe whatever they want but, in the end, the truth can't be debated. It's the truth! But, it can be dismissed (Focksnooze) with seemingly endless attempts to reshape it to suit a particular need (republican politics). That can be dangerous (Trump and his MAGAts).

I’ve read for years, just started commenting. Community. It all comes down to community. The ones we make & the ones we break. I’m ignorant about your specifics but I’m happy that you have community. We sold our home & belongings, left the south right after November 2016, & went looking for a new physical community that was more reflective of our values & beliefs. Just like DU.
