Best plant gifts for people with pets.

I'm looking for a plant to gift someone special, but they have already warned me not to give them something that might harm their cat. So, I have to replace the really cool snake plant I was going to give them for something else.

Did find this site, but was hoping for more options. Anyone have any experience with this?

Unless the cat is neurotic about chewing houseplants it should be fine. And if it is that neurotic I wouldn't want to be blamed for whatever might happen with a plant, toxic or not.

That link did mention Christmas Cactus - those can be really nice in bloom and if you don't have them everywhere, they look kind of exotic and are easy to care for.

My cat chewed some shamrocks that I picked up for St. Patrick's Day at Trader Joe's
I thought a shamrock plant was like grass and harmless. Wrong. The botanical name is oxalis and it is poisonous to cats and dogs. My cat developed pancreatitis as a result.

After that, I have become very careful. What about gifting your friend with some herbs? Rosemary can be very pretty and it is very useful in cooking. Thyme is less pretty (IMHO) but equally useful.

If you are looking for additional plants, check out the aspca.org site. It lists both toxic and non-toxic plants. See https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants?field_non_toxicity_value%5B%5D=02
