IS this Japanese? I hate to assume...

I found some paintings on silk in my grandparents things. He was stationed in Okinawa between WWII and Korean war so I figure they came from there but I never heard him mention these. The shipping tube they were in shows they were shipped to the states in 1955 which is probably about right for when he came home home from Okinawa. I'll get better pics of the paintings (I think they are pretty cool) but here's the only signature or any writing of any kind I could find.

I have a Japanese woodblock painting I found at a garage sale that's worth well over a $1000.00.

One of my greatest fears while going through all this stuff is finding some thing that looks cool but unimportant and letting it got for a buck and find out it's worth much more. Although my daughter has already called dibs on these lol so it may not matter. They were wrapped up pretty solidly - rolled in tissue paper then corrugated paper then the shipping tube.

We found a rolled up paper identified in Japanese. Before unrolling this delicate scroll, we decided to take it to someone to decipher the Japanese before opening it. It turns out that the writing on the outside was simply "blank scroll paper"! We had saved it for more than 100 years!! Oh well...

The top portion translates to "green," the bottom "feng."

It is the name of the artist, which would be pronounced "Suihou."

Girlfriend is as Japanese as can be. After being in the US for over 20 years, I still have a difficult time understanding her when she speaks due to her very heavy accent. The word I say to her more than any other is "what?"
