Surgery on Dec 3rd. I've never been knocked out before (by a doctor).

(16,903 posts)I've known many people who have had hernia surgery and it sounds like it's pretty simple, mostly.

just live with it..

You will do fine! And do keep us updated if you feel like it.
I've had four joints replaced under general anesthesia and it's not a problem. You wake up after the surgery is over and you're in the recovery room. A nurse will be taking care of you until you wake up.
If they keep you overnight, then you go into your room, and if you get to go home right away, a family member will take you home!
Sorry for the long tutorial! Once a nurse, always a nurse!

(16,903 posts)So you should have it done. I had to shower with some sort of betadine solution before I had a surgery way back when. Don't worry yourself.
Kali
(56,696 posts)don't worry - and you will probably get another wipe down when you change into your hospital fashions (one thing that doesn't ever seem to change is the damn backless hospital gown LOL)
and then further scrubbing after you are under.
Kali
(56,696 posts)you will be fine, they have this down pretty damn good. I have been under so many times the last few years it isn't even funny. gonna do it again in January (the other knee)

(56,696 posts)good deal, I am sure I will see you around DU before then, but good luck just in case! depending on what they do it should be pretty easy and then you just need to take it easy and let it heal so you don't pop loose again.

(*YMMV, though. My most recent surgery was in 1969. They might be better at it nowadays...lol.)
