The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsIt's just a little after 6 a.m.
And I've already got this done since I woke up at 5:
Put food and fresh water for the dog
Got the dishwasher filled and running
Made coffee
Updated the account registers
Cleaned the kitchen counters
Read some of the latest posts in LBN while drinking coffee.
After I post this I'll put food out for the wild turkeys. About 5 lbs. of oats.
I got two grandkids showing up at about 7:30 and one will be here till about 4. Another one will be here about 3:30ish and he and the other will be here till about 5. I'll be making spaghetti for dinner tonight.

(36,398 posts)I've been taking Melatonin. I still wake up at around 2ish but I can fall back to sleep after a bit. Before, I'd be up for 2 to 3 hours or even longer before being able to fall back to sleep again.

(9,426 posts)You do realize that you have more done before 7 a.m. than does our "dear leader" in the WH? So good that you can take care of the grandkids, rather than taking them elsewhere. Comforting for the parents. Setting a great example for them, looking out for the birds and turkey.

(36,398 posts)One grandkid is here now and the other will arrive soon so I did have do get somethings done before they arrive. Otherwise it's very hard to do when they are here.

Have a great day and enjoy a fun time with your grand children.

(4,079 posts)We were supposed to leave at about 7am to go in for my hubby's second cataract surgery. Instead, there's two feet of snow outside, the plows haven't come yet, and the surgery center called to cancel because most of their staff and patients can't make it. Hubby is VERY disappointed, but not much to be done when mother nature puts her foot down.
I'm about to make coffee and settle in with a good book.

(9,581 posts)doesn't it? I roasted a turkey and made gravy and stuffing. The beauty of spending Thanksgiving alone is that you can have it on any day of the week!
Enjoy those grand kids, they're the best.

(36,398 posts)I'll buy them when they are less then a $1 a pound. I can make several different meals out of a turkey.

(9,581 posts)Because I like dark meat, I usually buy turkey drumsticks a couple of times during the year, make a gravy and mashed potatoes. My granddaughter likes that, too.
I only bought a 12 pounder since my kids are going to visit DIL's dad in Illinois. It was on sale for 37 cents a lb, so not bad for $4.50 for the whole thing - although it had the saline solution injected and I usually steer clear of that.

(4,986 posts)Coffee, dog & cats, birds is my wake-up routine. Add turkeys to the mix of visitor birds and I'd be out the door before dawn, too. I bet they're a hoot and a half.
