anyone know how to convert MP4 to wmv format?

i have music videos i made on an older windows movie maker that are in mp4 format. the windows dvd maker won't burn them -- it only wants to burn the wmv format.

so my SIL used some program he has to "convert" them. but in order for them to get burned (i tried 5 disc and got error--unable etc so SIL googled) i have to put the converted video into windows movie maker and go through the motions of making it into a video where it saves it on the computer. HOWEVER, when i open it in the dvd movie maker it only burns HALF OF THE VIDEO! when i put the disc into the dvd player in the living room the video freezes up midway through and doesn't finish playing.

ARRRRGH!!!!!

i'm thinking he used a weird converter program and maybe another converter program would help.

the videos that are originally created in the wmv format in my current windows movie maker burn fine in the windows dvd maker.

1. mp4 to wmv file conversion

There are a number of free online file conversion tools. I used one a few years ago, I forget which one. Do a google search for "free online file conversion" and you will get some results. One (or more) of them will probably do the trick for you.

3. Handbrake for PC is free and awesome. It should convert to WMV.

I’ve never had any trouble with the output from Handbrake, whereas other program as failed or made you download a bunch of codecs and set them up, sometimes still failing. I used to dread converting anything. Now it’s easy.
