I remember a concert where he introduced a tune by saying: "I'm going to play this next one on the farm" meaning further up on the fingerboard. Many guitar players know that's where all the grit, grime and gunk accumulates.

It was fabulous, of course.

I love that breathless pause, and the bass line when the piece resumes.
