A sight that warmed my heart on this crappy news day...

I was driving to the neighborhood hardware store and I see my kiddo (14years old) flying by traffic on his bike with his fly rod strapped to his back...headed toward the Clark Fork River. I got home and he had done all his chores, recycling, emptied the dishwasher and fed the dogs...AND left me a note telling he he’d “gone fishing”. Love that kid.

You’d love him even when he’s too lazy to put a dirty dish in the sink, or when he drinks the last of the milk and still puts the carton back in the fridge.

I know what you mean though!

but I would kick his behind if he left his chores undone and went fishing! I’m just so glad he’s outside and off the screen.

Update...he caught a rainbow and a brown trout.

along with mornings doing the same thing to stand next to or in a mountain stream with mist rising off it.

Hell, i'm pushing 70 and remember doing that when I was 8.

He loves it more than anything but sometimes the screen/computer etc distracts him. The weather has broken and the roads are clear of snow and he’s on his bike to the river which I’m grateful for.

I’m torn between loving the winter respite and fretting about wildfires this summer. Btw...it was 60 degrees this past Saturday.
