were deliberately set. Monsters. I've donated to several animal welfare groups and our local news had a story about some local women who are sewing bat wraps, blankets and knitting little kangaroo & wombat pouches to send there. Local firefighters are also in Australia helping battle the fires. This was posted on Facebook:

I'm not sure exactly how they're making these estimates, but it went up from half a billion a few days ago to a billion.

But some good (or mixed?) news -- the reports of widespread arson are fake news, spread by trolls and bots. Obviously RWNJs, since they're claiming climate change activists set the fires to phony up a crisis. Truly, there is no low to which the RWers will not stoop.
